Balanced and unbalanced hierarchies
Posted on December 16th, 2007
In balanced hierarchies (balanced/standard), the branches of the hierarchy all descend to the same level, with each member’s parent being at the level immediately above the member. An common example of a balanced hierarchy is one that represents time, where the depth of each level (year, quarter, and month) is consistent. Unbalanced hierarchies includes levels [...]

Using Administrator Workbench (AWB) in SAP BW

In SAP BW, the Administrator workbench is the primary tool to contol and monitor, manage all objects and processes in the SAP BW System. AWB is the data warehouse manager of the SAP BW System.

The AWB is the place where you create meta objects, scheduler for data uploads and track each data loading progress using the monitor closely and identity any errors quickly.

There are 7 main function areas in SAP BW Administrator Workbench.

1. Modeling.

We use This function area to create, edit and maintain all SAP BW. You can see the list of the objects using tree structure based on the hierarchical criteria.

2. Monitoring

This function area will allow you to monitor and control data loading processes and also other additional data processing in SAP BW system

3. Reporting Agent

You can use this tool to schedule and execute reporting functions in the background such as evaluating exceptions, printing queries, and pre calculating web templates even managing bookmarks.

4. Transport Connection

Transport connection is used to collect objects that have recently been created or modified in the SAP BW System, you can use the change and transport organizer to transport these objects into SAP BW system.

5. Documents.

This function will enable you to search and add links between documents in various different formats, versions, languages for SAP BW Objects. To use this function you should give users the authorization to display or edit documents.

6. Business content.

This is a preconfigured information models based on metadata. It provides the users with the information they need to help them perform their tasks. The tcode to call this function is RSORBCT.

7. Translation.

This function area enables you to translate the short and long texts for SAP BW objects.

8. Metadata repository.

This function will allow you to search any meta objects in SAP BW, so this is like a center point of meta objects. You can also exchanging metadata data between different systems, exporting HTML pages, graphics for the objects. The tcode to access this function is RSOR
